About The Flagler Palm Coast

Friends of Tennis

Who are the Palm Coast/Flagler Friends of Tennis?

We are a not-for-profit organization organized under the laws of the State of Florida and approved by the IRS as a Section 501(c)(3) charitable organization, contributions to which are deductible on your income tax. We are qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, transfers and gifts. We are a membership organization of more than 200 members committed to promoting and supporting tennis activities throughout our area, as more specifically stated in our mission.

Our Mission
As residents of the Palm Coast/Flagler area we seek to continue our rich and proud history of community based tennis, to increase and enhance participation in the sport and to champion tennis as a lifetime leisure activity.  We intend to achieve this mission by:

sponsoring men's and women's league play and youth teams;

developing clinics and academies for group and individual lessons, at a reasonable fee;

providing a site for introductory clinics for residents desiring to take up the sport;

encouraging all residents, regardless of skill level and age, to play tennis at a reasonable fee;

establishing a host site for the Friends of Tennis;

securing a host site for USTA sanctioned tournaments;

instituting a host site for annual city & county wide championship at all levels;

seeking grants for the advancement of tennis in our area

Accomplishments
In 2007, we achieved a significant goal when the ten clay-court tennis facility at Palm Coast Tennis Center was opened.  Ongoing activities for 2008 and 2009 have included:

volunteer programs supporting tennis at the 21st Century Learning Center at Bunnell Elementary School, a tennis program during June and July for the Flagler County Teen Center, Hammock Dunes Day Camp in mid-summer, tennis at the After School program sponsored by the City of Palm Coast, a presence at weekly scheduled Round Robin play at PCTC, Weekend Mixed Doubles Social events,  Scholarship Tournaments with funds going to High School Senior tennis team members, tennis lessons at Matanzas and Palm Coast High Schools, helping the high school tennis team members during their after school practice

providing equipment to facilitate tennis programs, including donations of second-hand racquets to children in programs, racquet repair and restringing, and other tennis equipment to schools

funding clinics for the Flagler-Palm Coast and Matanzas tennis team members

community involvement, including speaking on women in tennis, facilitating high school tennis activities, and providing refreshments for activities and programs.
